This proof-of-concept (PoC) study is aimed to elucidate molecular mechanics at the center of one of the most important technologies of modern industrial endeavors, namely the production of glass. Centered around large area glass coating business, where high-performance computing is expected to make a notable impact by means of ab initio calculations, the goal of this PoC is to demonstrate that materials discovery for use in specific stages of production of glass coatings can be accelerated via ab initio calculations.
