Feasibility Analyses of Operational Weather Forecasting Using HPCs

The applicability of the HPC infrastructure in numerical weather prediction (NWP) processes is being tested through a Proof of Concept (PoC) study. By evaluating the scalability and real-time potential of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, the advantages and limitations of HPC are being analyzed.

With the findings obtained from the study, the use of HPC in operational forecasting applications across various industries will be assessed, and contributions will be made to EuroCC2’s competence development goals.
