Since its incorporation, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM has been providing research networks, high performance computing, data-intensive computing and scientific data warehousing services. When looking at the services provided today, we can see that it contains all the necessary components for the continuous and reliable operation of e-Infrastructures. It closely monitors projects, centers and policies related to technological developments such as cloud computing and Green Information Technologies and gives great importance to interoperability with all components of e-Infrastructure.

Services such as high-performance computing, data-intensive computing, scientific data warehouses and cloud computing are provided by the current infrastructure called TRUBA as of 2011, which is operated by the TRUBA Operation Center and was called TR-Grid until the end of 2010.

TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM started the high-performance computing studies with the 128 PCs purchased in 2003 with the budget of the institution, and then realized the TUGA (Turkish National Grid Infrastructure/TR-Grid) project with the demand from national researchers as well as the experiences and achievements achieved in international projects. The infrastructure was supported and expanded significantly between 2006 and 2008 within the scope of the TUGA project supported by TARAL with the approval of the TÜBİTAK Science Board.

In 2009, the project “TR-Grid Research e-Infrastructure Strengthening” was presented by applying to the Research Infrastructure Project Call of DPT (State Planning Organization). Within the scope of this project, TRUBA, formerly called TR-Grid, was supported by DPT until the end of 2011. Within the scope of the “Turkish National e-Science e-Infrastructure Strengthening” project, which is a continuation of the previous project, the infrastructure is being expanded and updated with the current technologies with the support of the Ministry of Development.

TRUBA, which has more than 1900 researchers from 114 different universities, provides direct service to contribute to scientific studies, carries out joint projects with different public institutions and research institutes and took part in 13 European Union Framework Programme Projects since its establishment, is an e-Infrastructure of strategic importance in the national sense.

In order to support and strengthen the established and developed National e-Infrastructure for it to compete in the international arena, a joint work should be carried out with the TRUBA Advisory Board under TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM. TRUBA Advisory Board was established in July 2010 with the decree of TÜBİTAK Science Board. The TRUBA Advisory Board includes representatives of the Ministry of Development, TÜBİTAK, universities, the public, defense industry and private sector. TRUBA Advisory Board is a unique board providing strategy, policy and technical consultancy for all stakeholders of the e-Infrastructures in Turkey, and operating similar infrastructures.
